Air India to Allow New Flights Connecting Mumbai and Bangalore to USA

Air India introduces new flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru. This brings the total number of flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru to four. On August 20, 2022, the airline announced 24 new domestic flights, including the new BOM-BLR flights. These additional flights will primarily be deployed on routes serving metro cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai.

The following statement was shared on Twitter by Air India: “Be ready for more flying options between Mumbai and Bengaluru as we introduce a new flight between these cities effective 20th August. There is now a total of 4 flights to choose from. Now enjoy more comfort, more choice, and more convenience.”

Air India launches an additional 24 flights

The airline added two new frequencies on the Delhi-Mumbai, Bengaluru-Ahmedabad, and Mumbai-Chennai-Hyderabad routes. Mumbai-Bengaluru and Ahmedabad-Pune routes have also received a new frequency.

According to a statement released by Air India – “The additional 24 flights include two new frequencies from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, and Mumbai to Chennai and Hyderabad, as well as one new frequency on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route and Ahmedabad-Pune route.”

By 2023, all Air India aircraft will be in service

As of now, Air India has 70 narrow-body aircraft in its fleet, 54 of which are operational. A total of 16 aircraft will also resume service by the beginning of 2023.

Air India’s MD and CEO Campbell Wilson said: “This expansion bolsters connectivity between key metros and improves connectivity between Air India’s domestic and international networks. Over the past six months, Air India has been working closely with our partners to return aircraft to service, and we are delighted that this effort is now bearing fruit.”

The airline is also planning to buy more than 200 new planes, of which 70 percent will be narrow-body aircraft.
